SOS guidelines on voting and Absentee Ballots!

Our town clerks are soon to be inundated with requests for absentee ballots for the primary and the general elections. The thing we can do to alleviate their stress is to get our requests in now. Get this one task out of the way so we can aid others in applying for their Absentee Ballots if they are reticent to vote in person.

If you get a chance, watch our UVDems program from Monday last. Russ Muirhead lays it out . . . we need to win this, to state the obvious, the stakes could not be higher.

Of course there are volunteer needs/opportunities listed below—ballot inspectors are needed and it is definitely something we can all do. Let’s.

Remember, the Coordinated Campaign supports all the Dems up for reelection. They have kicked off the campaign and will soon be looking for volunteers–all hands on deck! And if you have Republican-registered friends who have seen the light, please please remind them that the deadline for switching parties is June 2. This is a new rule so spread the word.

Finally, there is a link to a regular Open Democracy Action meeting set for Fridays at 2 p.m. or Sundays at 7 p.m if you can’t make it during the week.  They are devoted to voter rights. This is a critical, important task that needs as much support as we can give. Check in if you have the time.

Enjoy these very special summer days and stay safe!

Podcasts, videos and events this week!

The crucial issue at hand: turning our governor’s officeholder to a Democrat, keeping a healthy and vibrant legislature and supporting our wonderful incumbents in Washington to their next terms. Hopefully some of the links below will inspire you to get out there, write a letter, inspire your friends, make a call, pledge some $$.

We are looking at Kamala Harris this week as yet another short-lister for the VP slot. We loved her during the primaries, she is a strong candidate and has a terrific story to tell.

We would like to also focus on Sununu Sad Facts. Andru Volinsky (at the Lebanon Dems Zoom chat this week) gave us three very compelling reasons to feel uncomfortable with this governor. First, although he is trying to ingratiate teachers throughout the state, he is committing millions of dollars to wealthy private schools. He, along with his “Betsy DeVos lookalike” Secretary of Education, is showing himself to be much more comfortable with alternate educate–charter schools, private schools and religious schools. We call that property taxes supporting non-public education. Second, Sununu is determined to end women’s reproductive rights in our state. He has now shown a 30-year documented history of opposing reproductive rights. This is reason enough to see he gets kicked out. And third, Sununu is owned by the fossil fuel lobby. He is a climate denier and the people of New Hampshire can’t afford to have a man with the power to stop all efforts to stem the carbon orgy remain in office.Watch the video below.

And finally, our program this Monday (see below for details): Our presenter is Russ Muirhead who has written a very compelling book on conspiratorial thinking. When our era is over and historians dig around for explanations as to how this happened, Russ’s book will, in a most clearheaded way, explain how magical, conspiratorial thinking got us here. We have no doubt that Russ, with his intimate knowledge of New Hampshire politics and his deep understanding of government, will open our eyes to what is truly at stake in this election. This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity. As usual lately, no food required, just your zoom link.
