This week Tulsi Gabbard is coming to Hanover and Enfield, Tom Steyer will visit Hanover and Pete will be here TODAY–in Claremont at the high school! Pete always gives you your money’s worth. It’s raining, then it might be snowing . . . actually, if you plan to be in Claremont, take time to see Pete!
Now that Gov. Sununu defines “parental leave” as allowing us to bring our babies (up to six months old) to work, we can work and tend our babies at the same time! What about respect for women–as viable workers and mothers–does Mr. Sununu not get??? Read our Sununu Fun Facts for more outrageous “compromises” and vetoes to our Democrats’ well-thought-out bills.
We have some homework for you as well—NPR’s excellent piece on Medicare for All is linked here—please take time to absorb it. You will also want to consider participating in all or part of the Climate Action Conference in Norwich on January 14th.
The UVDems program this month is “It’s Criminal,” an award-worthy documentary, featuring incarcerated women who go through a life-changing program by two Dartmouth professors. We couldn’t be more proud of their efforts, blending their mostly-privileged students with women caught up in the criminal justice system. After the screening there will be a panel comprised of the professors and people who benefited from the program. This is not to be missed on Monday, January 27th at the Mascoma Valley Regional High School auditorium.
As we said, there is plenty to do on these dark days of winter!

Postcards to Voters (Tony the Democrat) is a grassroots get-out-the-vote volunteer organization that handwrites fun and friendly election reminders to Democratic voters across the country where election turnout is expected to be low and where a boost in Democratic turnout might help win that election for the Democratic candidate.
It is a perfect activity for grassroots volunteers who prefer the non-threatening activism of writing postcards, versus knocking on doors or making phone calls. Once accepted, you get a list of addresses and the exact text, usually three bullet points, to write on the postcards. You provide the postcard* and the stamps; you can write alone or create postcard-writing parties with friends.
You can join in three ways: text, email, or website form. Check the link for your preferred way of signing up. Several of us have been writing for the organization for a while, so if you have any questions, please reply to this email.
* You can buy blank postcards at the post office or Staples, and printed postcards online. Stamps are 35 cents.

Many of us are so wrapped up in the differences between our candidates that we fail to remember how fortunate we are. These candidates are all eager to fix the climate, fix our failing education systems, fix our horrific medical insurance problems, make sure criminal justice is fair, fix racism in our country, and we forget to acknowledge how each and every one of these people is a stellar, unique, honest, creative, brilliant person.
