Juneteenth events tonight!

As usual, lately, our brains are exploding with conflicting stimuli . . . we can’t even absorb the shame of a president who chooses June 19 in Tulsa for his vanity rally . . . the basement just gets lower and lower.

But we, the majority of us white, can stand for justice and true equality for our black neighbors. The Noyes Academy destruction comes to mind. So it is totally appropriate for the Juneteenth vigil to be happening in Canaan tonight. And this would be a moment for us to put Netflix bingeing aside for an hour or two and watch Shadows Fall North, the film which helps us face the history of racism in New Hampshire. The link is also below.

If you can’t make it to the Canaan vigil, the Negro Ensemble Company New York is live streaming a concert of songs that feed the soul tonight. Surely if you can’t hear it live it will probably be on Youtube later. So much to do and all the time trying to remember that we are still isolating . . . at least some of us …

Our monthly program is coming up this Monday. For those who are concerned about voter suppression and access (who isn’t?) this is a must-visit event. Please register below. We also have listed below all of the election-centric information we can find. The NHDP Organize New Hampshire is doing a good job making sure we have trainings available and volunteer opportunities to make this election safe, fair and honest.

And by the way, if you can forward our newsletter on to a friend who might be interested in learning about what the Dems are up to in the Upper Valley we would be grateful. As the election gets closer, more and more people will want to participate. Let’s encourage everyone to jump in to make our future Trumpless.

CHECK YOUR REGISTRATION AND FILL OUT YOUR ABSENTEE BALLOT REQUEST FORM.

With 5 business days left before the Primary, drop your absentee ballot  off at the clerk’s office.  Make sure you ring the bell at the clerk’s office window and speak to someone before you drop your absentee ballot in the dropbox.

  1. Make sure you are registered to vote. If you are in doubt about your voting status or where to register, go online to https://app.sos.nh.gov/Public/PartyInfo.aspx
  2. If you can’t download and print an absentee ballot request form, contact your Town or City Clerk. Consider filling out the request form while you are at the Clerk’s office and returning it then.
  3. When you get the form, follow these steps:
      • In Section II: Check the box…I am unable to vote in person due to concern for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19)
      •  In Section III: Check both…State Primary Election in September & State General Election in November
